Four years ago, our session identified that the usefulness, accessibility, efficiency, condition, and appearance of our church facilities had become significant barriers to ministry. Beginning in 2013, the “Rebuilding God’s Community” Capital Campaign raised funds to ensure that our facilities will support our calls to mission, worship, study, and fellowship in the present and for future generations. Construction over the last two years has transformed our facilities, addressing all the concerns raised in 2013. Thanks to the congregation’s generosity, we have transformed the spaces that are now the Education Wing and Mission Hall and have renovated the Narthex to bring these remodeled wings together. We are now enjoying the new opportunities for ministry these spaces provide for us and for the groups we invite to meet at Covenant.
Now we are stepping up to finish what we began three years ago. We knew that such a massive undertaking would require a focused effort from our congregation over a six-year period to complete, so we joyfully continue the work we began as we launch “Rebuilding God’s Community 2,” our follow-up capital campaign. During a capital campaign, we are challenged to remember to continue to maintain or grow our giving to the operations of the church and the missions we support.
