Worshipping God is “the center of our common life” as a community (PCUSA Book of Order, W-1.0107). As we gather together, we are reminded of God’s acts of grace, God’s claim on us as beloved children, and God’s saving love. We are invited to allow this good news to shape, form, and transform our lives as the Spirit helps us become the disciples Christ calls us to be.

Through our worship, we are reminded that, “In a broken and fearful world the Spirit gives us courage to pray without ceasing, to witness among all peoples to Christ as Lord and Savior, to unmask idolatries in Church and culture, to hear the voices of peoples long silenced, and to work with others for justice, freedom, and peace.” (PCUSA Book of Confessions, A Brief Statement of Faith, lines 65-71)

Through our worship we are drawn into deeper relationship with the Living God and into becoming a community that is forged by and through Christ to be his body in the world. We learn that “If one member suffers, all suffer together with it; if one member is honored, all rejoice together with it” (1 Corinthians 12:26), because we find our lives to be profoundly interrelated.

And through our worship we are prepared and sent into the world to proclaim the good news through words and actions, allowing the world to get a glimpse of the presence of God through our response to the brokenness of the world.
